Taekwon-Do is a Korean martial art created by the late General Choi Hong Hi. The name Taekwon-Do was adopted on April 11, 1955 as the official name of his new art by a group of Korean Masters from the different kwons that existed in Korea during the time. Taekwon-Do is similar to other martial arts in that it involves the use of hand and foot techniques for self-defense. It differs from other martials arts in that it employs the use of physics and proper body movement to produce maximum power. This makes it specifically suited for smaller stature people. However, do not confuse our style of Taekwon-Do with other martials arts that claim to be Taekwon-Do. They may mimic our techniques and/or patterns but it's the specific scientific teaching methods and focus on technical accuracy that differentiates Taekwon-Do from imitators.
An official uniform will be provided to you as part of your initiation fee. Until you receive your uniform, you may wear any loose fitting clothing (sweats, shorts, t-shirt, etc). Uniforms will usually be provided when your first payment comes due.
Currently, we do limit new students to the age of 7 or older. We do not have the time allotment or specialized program for younger children at this time.
Our program is designed to offer students the capability to reach a black belt in 4 years. However, this timeframe depends on the many factors. It's not just about minimum time or requirements. Being a black belt is not just about how many techniques are learned and how much time is spent in class. There is no amount of money that can purchase an ITF black belt certificate. It can only be granted by a certified ITF International Instructor in good standing with the ITF. We want to ensure that students are mentally ready to handle the responsibilities of wearing a black belt in addition to all of the techniques and time. Students don't just wear a black belt. They must be a black belt 100% of the time and represent the art, their Instructor, and their school with integrity. Part of training involves learning and practicing the Tenets of Taekwon-Do.
We are aware that other schools usually require a new student to sign a contract that lock them into payments even if they stop attending classes. Often, these contracts cannot be cancelled without significant legal hassles. This should alert you that the school is more interested in money than in the student. Our school allows month-to-month tuition payments with no commitment. However, we do offer 1 and 4 year agreements that offer additional discounts and benefits over month-to-month. But unlike other schools, our agreements are designed in such a way that they can be cancelled for any reason at any time with little or no penalty. Contact us for more information on these packages. Our first priority is always the student, not the bottom line.
Our first priority is to the students. If we have no students, we have no black belts or future instructors. We will make every effort to come up with a financial solution to the problem. Don't let money interfere with progress. We do have Financial Hardship programs available for both monthly tuition and agreement programs. If possible, contact us before the next payment is due so we can make arrangements. We respect privacy and all information will remain confidential under the law.
